This is the story of how the 'Nifty Fifties Rock 'n' Roll Club' started:

Having been part of the team who ran 'Rock 'n' Roll Revival' in South Manchester, ( raising £37,000 for charity), we decided we'd like to form another club. We have our gigs on Fridays and Sundays and our friends from 'Rock 'n' Roll Revival' now run a regular gig on Saturdays in Timperley, Cheshire.

The name for our new club came from meeting the 'Nifty 50's Car Club' based in Lubbock, Texas. This friendship has continued over the years and despite the 5,000 miles separating us, we keep in touch and on our frequent visits have been fortunate to meet stars such as Carl Perkins, Johnny Tillotson, Bobby Vee, The Peggy Sue, Joe Ely, and Buddy Holly's widow, Maria Elena! (who bought Noeline a lovely silver bracelet).

We put on regular gigs with bands such as 'Blast Off', 'Good Rockin', 'Darrel Higham & The Enforcers'and 'Colin Paul & The Persuaders'.

To keep the live Rock 'n' Roll scene going, you have to love the music. The compliments received make it all worthwhile, despite the odd complaint.

We've had to overcome problems finding the right venue - is the dance-floor large enough? Is it wheelchair accessible? Does it have a large car park available? Does the venue have adequate heating/cooling facilities.

In the long term, we make more losses than profits but the music keeps us going and all the hassle worthwhile.

Please support your local club and show your appreciation for all the hard work that goes into keeping rock 'n' roll alive!
