Belles Rock 'n' Roll Club has long been associated with the Mytchett Centre
and has been known as the Mytchett Rock 'n' Roll club. In January 2008 the
club moved to a new Saturday
venue
at the Bisley Village Hall. Unfortunately after only three gigs the club
was forced to move again, this time to West Farnborough Social Club.
However,
it still retains it's same brilliant format with regular DJs for a great
mix of Rockabilly & Rock 'n' Roll plus Jive and Swing from the 50s featured
throughout the evening. At every gig, there's a band and guest DJs are invited
from time to time. Our regular sponsor stalls; MJS Toys & Collectables,
otherwise known as Betty Boop Collectables & Dare 2 Rock CD/vinyl stall
plus guest stalls on a monthly basis.
It's
a great venue! A lovely large room with a sprung wooden floor, plenty of
seating, car parking, good stage and bar. It's only been running a short
time but already it's a very popular place. Not a 'Ted Shed', 'Bop Shop'
or 'Jive Club', it attracts all sorts and all age groups too. Although capable
of holding over 200 people, tickets are limited to 170 and will continue
to be so to avoid overcrowding.
It
runs alternate months on a Friday or Saturday, always a band and a DJ but
if popularity continues, it is hoped to increase to monthly dances. The
music starts at 7pm and continues until after midnight, so it's certainly
a value for money evening at only £6 admission.
Food
is provided from 7pm till 10pm and drinks from the club bar are at reasonable
prices. There's also tea, coffee and soft drinks available.
