A monthly gig, on the last Friday of the month, always a band and a DJ. It's an excellent venue and it's like going into another world when you enter the rock 'n' roll club foyer at the back of the British Railway Club. All sorts of interesting memorabilia, pictures, records, tee shirts etc.
Jim will greet you at the door, and makes everyone very welcome. Inside is a huge room with a bar at each end, a large wooden sprung dance floor and raised stage in the centre and plenty of seating all around. What I particularly like about this place are all the different stalls all around the edge of the room, clothing, records, memorabilia, all sorts of interesting stuff to do with the rock 'n' roll scene. It's nice to browse between band sets or take a breather from dancing without missing anything. It starts at 8pm and goes on until 11.30pm and admission varies according to the band.
In addition to the monthly gig, they run two allday events every year, one in May and the other in November. It's a great day/evening with lots of top bands, usually on a Sunday and it's always a sell out. The next one is scheduled for Sunday, 25th November and bands booked are Cavan, The Jets, LenneRockers and The Moonshiners. DJs are Strollin' Steve and Hound Dog Jim.
