Rock 'n'
Roll first started at the BAWA in the 80s with private functions and in the
90s we started running weekly rock 'n' roll events which we have done ever
since.
There's a
live band every Sunday, with the biggest names on the rock 'n' roll circuit
coming to our venue. Entry is £5, pay on the door only. Membership costs are
very resonable and new members are always welcome. Now, more popular than
it's ever been, attendances vary between 180 and 250 with people traveling
from all over the South West.
The room
has a fantastic sound and light system and a large wooden sprung dance floor.
A massive car park with frequent security patrols mean visitors do not need
to worry and can enjoy themselves. DJ-ing is spread between Rockin' John and
Slim Reed - Not Before '54 Record Hop. The
evening starts at 7.30. The band does two spots with music finishing at 11.00
and the night ending at 11.15.
On a Tuesday
every week we run rock 'n' roll dance classes and record hop with Pete The
Feet. Entry is £3 with attendance generally around the 160 mark.
We have our
own website at http://www.bawa.biz which shows all the bands booked to appear
for the year, with an individual page on each band, plus weblinks to the bands
own website.
