The Alakasam Rock & Roll Club in Leighton Buzzard was born in March 2007.

The idea for a Rock & Roll club was conceived by Linda Eggleton and she approached the committee of the Brooklands Residents Club where the club is situated, for approval. The committee was enthusiastic and Linda then talked through her idea with her cousin Sam who has been involved in the music business for years and it was Sam who came up with the name Alakasam (an anagram of names!)

The club kicked off in March 2007 with no less a band than Mark Keeley's Good Rockin' Tonite and over 220 people crammed into the club. Staged on the last Friday of every month every since, Alakasam has featured many of the top Rock & Roll bands in the country and bands booked for the remainder of the year include The Firebirds and Mark Keeley's Good Rockin' Tonite once again.

As the gigs are held at a residents club, it seems right that families should be encouraged to come and consequently, as would be expected, there is a very welcoming atmosphere at the venue. A raffle is held at each gig and the profits, to date of over £700, are donated to research for the cure of bowel cancer.

Linda, Wendy and Sam are the mainstays of the club and they have worked tirelessly every month since the inception to ensure that the club continues to be a resounding success. For those whose dancing needs a little sharpening up, the Alakasam Club has a dance teacher who teaches Rock & Roll on Wednesday evenings.
